International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship of Chongqing University (2024)

For the purpose of satisfying the growing demands of the international community for Chinese language teachers and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) will continue with the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language (education) departments of foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language instruction of other countries, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad (collectively “recommending institutions”) may recommend outstanding students and currently-employed Chinese language teachers to study International Chinese Language Education or related majors in Chinese universities and colleges.

Chongqing University, one of the host institutions, welcomes qualified applicants to study Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speaker of Other Languages or Non-degree Chinese language program at Chongqing University under the Scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY

All applicants shall be:

• non-Chinese citizens.

• in good physical and mental condition, well performed both academically and behaviorally.

• should  be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school.

• aspired to take future careers on the teaching or international promotion of Chinese language

• between the ages of 16-35 by each September 1^st.  Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall be under 45 years old, while undergraduate students shall be under 25 years old.

SCHOLARSHIP TYPES, FIELD OF STUDY AND QUALIFICATION

2. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship of Chongqing University

In cooperation with CLEC, "International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship of Chongqing University" has been launched since 2020. According to the relevant application conditions of the International Chinese Language Teachers scholarship, Chongqing University will admit students through International Chinese Language Teachers scholarship Enrollment Platform of CLEC.

SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE AND CRITERIA

The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship provides full coverage on tuition fee, accommodation fee, comprehensive medical insurance expenses and living allowance.

The Living allowance is granted on a monthly basis. The monthly allowance for undergraduates, one-academic-year study students and one-semester students is 2,500 CNY per person, and 3,000CNY per person for MTCSOL students.

APPLICATION AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE

1. Online Application (starting from 1^st March)

Step 1:  Applicants log on to the International Chinese Language Teachers scholarship website (http://cis.chinese.cn) to choose recommending institution, and select “Chongqing University” as host institution, and then register and complete the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Application Form online, and upload the scanned copies of relevant supporting documents (Find details in the Annex). Chongqing University’s HSK test center serving as a recommending institution, only recommends candidates who take HSK test at this test center. Contact: jw2014@cqu.edu.cn

Step 2: Applicants register at https://cqu.17gz.org/member/login.do to complete the online application of Chongqing University. Personal information, passport information, email address and how to collect the admission notice are particularly important, please make sure to fill them out correctly. Except for documents required by the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application platform, applicants should also upload the Physical examination form including Blood report, Electrocardiograph and Chest X-ray examination results and Certificate of Non-criminal record to complete online application of Chongqing University. 2. Review and Admission

1. The recommending institutions are engaged in the applicant selection, materials review, and collecting and handing over applicants’ documents to Chongqing University.

2. Chongqing University will then review the eligibility of applicants, and submit the admission list to CLEC.

3. CLEC will conduct an overall assessment of all applications and admit applicants on the basis of competitive selection. The results will be notified three months before enrollment of the admitted students.

4. Chongqing University will issue the admission documents. Scholarship awardees must register at Chongqing University at the time specified in the admission notice.

   Note：① Currently employed Chinese language teachers applying for the scholarships can be exempted from submitting Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK) certificates if they can provide proof of employment and a letter of  recommendation from the institution where they work. ② Chinese Bridge winners who have been awarded the “International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate” of the year shall log onto the website of scholarship at http://cis.chinese.cn and submit documents to Chongqing University upon presentation of their CIS certificates.    NOTES

5. Applicants shall provide authentic, complete and valid application materials and shall not resort to fraud, otherwise, application or admission will be cancelled.

6. Those who submitted the pre-graduation certificate upon application should bring the official degree diploma for registration if admitted, otherwise the admission qualification will be cancelled.

7. Those who failed to register on time, failed to pass the health assessment, dropped out midway and/or suspended will be deprived of scholarship.

8. Degree students shall accept the annual assessment under the Annual Appraisal Procedures of International Chinese Language Teachers scholarship.
