Application Guide for International Exchange Program
(Updated in January 2025)
ELIGIBILITY
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid ordinary passports, above the age of 18 and in good physical and mental health;
2. Applicants must be from universities that have ongoing, valid student exchange agreements with Chongqing University (CQU).
3. Applicant should be recommended by their home university and included in the nomination list prior to submission of their application.
DURATION
The study duration for student exchange programs should comply with the nomination letter issued by the home university and the signed student exchange agreements.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs (Chinese language program excluded) are required to provide score report of HSK level 4 (≥210) or other Chinese language proficiency proof.
2. Applicants for English-taught programs whose native language is not English are required to provide score report of English language proficiency test (a score above IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL Internet-based 80 or equivalent), or other English language proficiency proof, or a certificate indicating that the applicants have studied in an English-speaking country for more than one year.
3. Applicants for Chinese language studies are not subject to mandatory Chinese proficiency requirements.

- Spring intake: November 30th
- Autumn intake: June 10th
APPLICATION AND ADMISSION PROCEDURES
1. The applicant’s home university sends the official nomination list to CQU. The deadline for nomination for the spring semester is usually November 15, while that for the autumn semester is usually May 31.
2. The applicant creates and activates an account in Chongqing University’s Online Application System at https://cqu.17gz.org/member/login.do.Subsequently, complete the application form, upload required supporting documents (a colored scanned copy of the original version) and submit the application. The documents uploaded should be clear, complete, true, and valid. Incomplete or false applications will be rejected.
3. CQU conducts a review of the students' applications and prepares admission documents for the successful candidates.
4. The admitted students apply for a visa using the admission documents, and contact the International Students Office (iso@cqu.edu.cn) for on-campus room reservation if needed.
APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
1. Information Page of Ordinary Passport. The passport shall have a minimum validity of one year.
2. Study Certificate. An official document of enrollment issued by the home university.
3. Transcript of academic records.
4. Physical examination formand Attachments within a valid period of six months (Click to download). The form shall be filled by the physician in Chinese or English and attachments of examination results (Laboratory exam report, Electrocardiograph report and Chest X-ray report) shall also be uploaded. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the form with a suggestion filled by the doctor. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.
5. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

7. Other supporting materials required by the host university.
Note: All the above documents should be in Chinese or English version. If the original copy is in a different language, a notarized translated version in Chinese or English must be submitted together
FEES
Application fees, tuition fees, accommodation fees, etc., shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant terms of the exchange agreement.
